Enterprise

You know… I think it’s been quite a long road, gettin’ from there to here!

Enterprise was Star Trek’s first prequel series, stepping back in time to a century before Captain Kirk’s iconic voyage. And I’m not gonna lie… I was not interested in that idea when the series was announced. I can remember listening to the radio, hearing the announcement, and just feeling disappointed in a prequel. Shortly after seeing The Phantom Menace – another infamous prequel – I felt that Star Trek ought to be moving the timeline forward, not looking back at its own fictional history. I tuned in for Enterprise’s premiere in late 2001, but after that I only watched the series sporadically. It was only when I bought the DVD box sets a few years after Enterprise went off the air that I watched the show in full.

I was wrong about Enterprise. What’s more, I find the show to be a great counter-point any time someone tries to make the argument “no one asked for/is asking for this.” In 2001, there weren’t a lot of Trekkies who were asking for a prequel. But the show had heart and kept up that spirit of exploration! This page is an archive of all of my posts about Enterprise – and there will surely be more to come in the months and years ahead.

Will we ever see the Suliban or Xindi return?

“Old” versus “New” Star Trek

“I wanted to take a look at the phenomenon for myself and give my thoughts on how the franchise is split, some of the possible causes, and what that split could mean for the franchise going forward into the 2020s and beyond…”
