Video Games

On this page you can find my video games commentary. I don’t write a lot of individual video game reviews, but I talk about new and upcoming games, the state of the industry in general, and much more.

For context, I spent a little over a decade working in the video games industry. I did marketing and website content for a large games company (which shall remain nameless), and I also worked with about a dozen other companies on a freelance basis, too. Having spent that time “on the inside,” and seen parts of the development process firsthand, I like to think that my video games coverage has something a little different to offer.

I owned a Dreamcast around the turn of the millennium.

When I was growing up, my household didn’t have a computer or games console. My earliest gaming memory is from a youth group or children’s club, and I can recall playing a football game that I think was the Commodore 64 version of International Soccer. It wasn’t until the early ’90s that I became an “official gamer” – when I got a Super Nintendo!

Since then, I’ve been fortunate to have owned a number of consoles – and to have played on several others. These days, my platform of choice is PC – though I do also own a Nintendo Switch, and I’ll probably pick up whatever machine Nintendo produces next. Gotta play the next Mario Kart game, after all!

An Xbox Series control pad.

I’m mostly a single-player gamer, and it takes something special for me to be interested in any kind of always online multiplayer experience.

There are a few games on my radar that I’m looking forward to – though I’m firmly in the “no pre-orders” camp! This page will be automatically updated with new articles and columns about games, gaming, and the games industry – so be sure to check back often!
